About — CasualDX and Ham Radio Adventures for you and your Family
What’s it all about?![]()
Ever wanted to go on a DXpedition? I did, but couldn’t convince my wife it was worth it! Luckily she likes to travel and so do I. That’s something we agree on.
I couldn’t quite justify the expense of going off to a remote location for two weeks, live in a tent on the beach or a rock and come home with sunburn and insect bites. I really hand it to the DXers who do that.
In 2003 I got the idea to combine Adventure, Travel and Radio for Hams and their Families. Along with Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic it became a reality.
Since then individuals or small groups have experienced CasualDX in —
Arctic (Svalbard) “Land of the Ice Bears,”
The Fjords of southern Chile,
Antarctica, S. Georgia, S. Shetlands, Falklands, Alaska,
and cruising from Tahiti to Easter Island as well as Alaska.
Here’s how you can do it too! Read the information on this site, consult the itineraries available at www.expeditions.com and consult with me (Marc, K9PET) about the details. Talk with Family and Friends, get a group together or go it alone, your choice. You will need to book your trip well in advance (9 months) as this type of “expedition travel” is popular and has a large following of enthusiastic people. You and your group with be part of not more than 110 “normal” folks doing this for reasons other than radio, like history, wildlife, photography, etc.
Why not be the DX and enjoy the pileup from the other end? Your adventure starts now as you review more on this site.
